FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

How is Clover different from the free phone alerts?

The Clover Alert Alarm System is 10x faster when delivering alerts, which means you have extra crucial time to take cover before damaging earthquake waves arrive.

Out system relies on television towers that have a proven track record of reliability, not cell towers. Once connected you will never have to "find a signal".

How many devices do I need?

We recommend you treat the placement of your Clover Device similar to a smoke detector. You will need one device per room/area, to ensure no matter where you are in your space you hear and see the alerts.

What do I do if my alarm goes off?

ShakeAlert recommends the "DROP-COVER-HOLD ON" protocol:

DROP where you are onto your hands and knees. This position helps protect you from being knocked down and allows you to stay low, making it easier to crawl to safety if it's nearby.

COVER your head and neck with both arms and hands. If there is a sturdy table or desk nearby, crawl underneath it for additional protection. If no shelter is available, crawl next to an interior wall, away from windows, hanging objects, and tall furniture.

HOLD ON to your shelter until the shaking stops. Be prepared to move with your shelter if it shifts during the earthquake.
